Ruby Bateman

Haricot Gallery is thrilled to announce the solo exhibition ‘PASSAGE’ by Ruby Bateman.
Ruby is a visual artist, working between London and the South West Countryside. Using a richly colourful and symbolic visual language, Ruby references classicism, the spiritual, and her own fiction: often investigating her personal and political identification with ‘the mother’ and (institutionalised) motherhood, which love, and loss has led her to desire. She is fascinated with the alchemic and transformative power of the artist, and how the creative process allows her to connect to a deeper material and maternal consciousness.
Ruby graduated from the Royal College of Art in 2020 with a Print Master’s and was awarded a First BA (Hons) degree in Fine Art Printmaking by The University of Brighton in 2017. She has exhibited in shows across the UK and online, recent exhibitions from the last year include: Season Gallery, ‘Drawing In: The Art of Manifestation & Fantasy’ 2022, her debut solo show, Benk&Bo ‘Open Call’ 2022, The Art Unit ‘Unity’ 2022, Alex Eagle ‘Bright Young Things’ 2022. Ruby has worked with social-political arts causes such as Birth Rites Collection, Big Arts Herstory Project (BHAPS) and Energy Garden and was shortlisted for the Birth Rites Collection New Works 2020.
