Sophie's artistic pursuits span a spectrum of media and techniques, encompassing photography, video production, installation art, and sculpture. Her creative journey unfolds at the fascinating juncture where these various disciplines converge. Sophie's creative process commences with an emotional response to the environments she encounters — be it a place, a space, or a social phenomenon. This initial spark fuels her distinctive approach, guiding her towards a fusion of mediums. As an artist, Sophie is driven by an unwavering passion for dismantling the boundaries that separate art from life itself. Through her practice, she navigates the intricacies of issues she encounters in her everyday life, inspiring her artistic endeavours as a means of both personal expression and social exploration.
Sophie Percival (b.1988) lives and works in London. Sophie holds a BA (Hons) Fine Art from Chelsea College of Art as well as a BS (Hons) Architecture from The Bartlett School of Architecture. Solo exhibitions include Transition Gallery, London (2011). Recent group exhibitions include Baggage Claim, Peckham, London (2023) and Radical Residency, Unit 1 Gallery, London (2020). Sophie was awarded the Building Prize from The Bartlett School of Architecture as well as the Jotta and Transition Gallery awards.
